Onyx is a shareholder in Cu 29 Ltd, a UK company invested in a copper deposit in the Northern Cape of South Africa.
The company also holds a license for an innovative South African copper beneficiation technology.
Traditional technologies require high capital investment in plant and associated infrastructure. These plants are operationally complex and difficult to run in remote areas.
Apart from creating a high barrier to entry for small to medium players, this also means that only large ore deposits are considered for development leaving many dormant, small to medium sized deposits unexploited
The process for which Cu29 holds a license solves that problem.
